The city of Chengdu, located in China’s southwest, is the capital of Sichuan province, the home of the biggest panda population in the world.
In recognition of a thriving Brussels-PRC relationship the city recently honoured Brussels ‘favourite son’, Manneken Pis, with a made-to-measure panda suit.
Chengdu is one of the most important economic centers and transportation and communication hubs in Southwestern China. According to the 2007 Public Appraisal for Best Chinese Cities for Investment, Chengdu was chosen as one of the top ten cities to invest in out of a total of 280 urban centres.
