26 May 2010 - Europe still top for quality of living

The Mercer 2010 Quality of Living Survey shows that quality of living in Vienna retains the world's best. Zurich and Geneva follow in second and third position.

Mercer's Quality of Living index list covers 221 cities this year, and it can be a good reference for the chief executives who want to appropriately compensate their employees working in different regions, said its senior researcher Slagin Parakatil. Sixteen European cities are listed in the world's top 25 cities for quality of living.

Brussels, ranked 15th, retains its score of 105,4 (NY=100) for a third year in a row. Three German cities figure in the top 10 - Dusseldorf, Frankfurt and Munich respectively ranked 6th, 7th and 8th and scoring 107,2 and 107. Berlin arrives 17th (105) and Stockholm 20th (104,5). Paris ends 34th (102,9), London 39th (101,6). To find out more, please visit the website http://www.mercer.com/qualityofliving
