Belgium gets good marks for innovation 14/02/12


The Innovation Union Scoreboard 2011, released by the European Commission on 7 February 2012, ranks Belgium n° 5 for innovation in the 27-state survey. The country moves up one place, relegating the United Kingdom to n° 6, followed by the Netherlands, Austria, Luxembourg and France. Sweden heads the ranking, followed in close order by Denmark, Germany and Finland. Belgium is credited by the Commission as one of the innovation followers “with an above-average performance. Relative strengths are open, excellent and attractive research systems, linkages and entrepreneurship.”
